Kiln fired decals are transfers printed with a ceramic ink that is applied to coffee mugs and glassware which are then fired at high temperatures in a kiln. The advantage of kiln fired decals is that the print becomes part of the surface and is permanent. They are good for printing handles, inside lip as well as producing large print areas.
Stoneware – Traditionally the least expensive way of making coffee mugs. They are made by hand from inexpensive firing clay and then glazed to make them waterproof and stain resistant. Porcelain – Made from higher quality kaolin clay with the addition of several rock elements and then fired at much higher temperatures than stoneware. It is more durable and higher quality than stoneware. Fine Bone China - Stronger than stoneware and porcelain allowing it to be used for lighter and more delicate mugs. Great when quality, strength and light weight are critical features. Glass – Toughened by further heat and chemical treatment so it will not shatter. .
